Bolivia is of the most traditional and preserved countries in South America, so studying Spanish here is truly a cultural immersion. The country, located in the Andes Mountains, has remained fairly untouched by tourism and is a great place to partake in outdoors adventures. The town of Sucre itself is charming, safe, as well as inexpensive. In addition, the Spanish spoken in this progressive, university town is clear and slow; a perfect learning environment! A great city to travel by foot and filled with quaint shops, restaurants, bars, museums, and markets, student's experiences will be authentic to the core. The Academia Latinoamericano school in Sucre is located close to virtually everything you could want to visit in the city. The two-story building includes a beautiful cafe as well as an interior patio to soak up the sun. Voyaging to Sucre will no doubt leave you not only with a multitude of unique travel memories, but a surprising amount of fluency in the Spanish language!

(Private room, half-board) Living with a local Bolivian family in Sucre is the best way to learn a lot of Spanish in a short amount of time. Students are given their own key to the outside door so that they can come and go as they please. Families are generally located within a 20-30 minute walk to campus. It is important to note that although host families are among the middle class in Sucre, living standards are lower in Bolivia and it might take some getting used to the customs and way of life. Feel free to discuss many things with your family, but certain topics such as religion or politics are best not to be brought up unless by the host families themselves. It is also very appreciated and a nice gesture to bring your host family a small gift or souvenir from your home city or country when you arrive!
Starts at $210 / week
