The BMA Biarritz French Language Institute is situated at the heart of downtown Biarritz. While taking courses at the school free access to Wifi as well as television and internet are at your fingertips. Class activity at BMA Biarritz

Standard 17 French

20 lessons of intensive French language course per week, totaling around 16.5 hours. Classes are taught Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00am-1:00pm. Each class is 50 minutes in this standard option.


Starts at €360 for one week

Intensive 25 French

30 lessons of intensive French language courses per week totaling 25 hours. Classes are taught Mondays-Fridays, from 9:00am-1:00pm. Classes last 50 minutes in this option, which is the more rigorous course offered in the intensive series.

Host Family

(Private room, half board) Staying with a host family during your time in Biarritz is highly suggested, as it is a wonderful way for students to fully immerse themselves in the lifestyle and culture that is offered in this exciting area of southern France. All families are located within the city of Biarritz. During certain times students might be staying with one or several other students of various nationalities, which is a fantastic opportunity to discover more than one culture.

By TraIn:

  • If arriving in Biarritz by train, students' host families will meet them at the station along with a sign reading their name. More information about the Gare de Biarritz can be found here.

By Plane:

  • When arriving at the airport, students' host families will similarly meet them holding a sign reading their name. They will be waiting at the passenger arrivals gate. More information about the airport can be found here.

If at any time during their arrival students need to take a bus, there is a service located right outside the airport and train station (line A1) that costs 1 euro.

If needed, the BMA school can also pick you up from either of these locations. In this case a financial contribution is requested.

BMA Biarritz offers an extensive list of activities one can partake in outside of class time. These activities include but are not limited to:

  • Surf's Up: Take part in one of the city's most popular activities and enjoy in a sport which didn't reach Europe until 1957, right int this spot! If you wish to stay on the sandy shores, check out a local rugby match which will sure to be happening.

  • Rhune With a View: There are plenty of easy day trips to take from Biarritz. Cross over into Spain and explore the Basque towns of San Sebastian and Saint Jean de Luz. Located here is the antique and rickety train, La Petit Train de la Rhune, which will lead you up to a spectacularly gorgeous view. Or, if you prefer, head north from Biarritz into the forest and beaches of Les Landes or the town of Bayonne.

  • Shops and Chocs: Window shop through the small, locally-owned boutiques which are Biarritz's pride and joy. Specialty cheese and chocolate shops, grocers, as well as a Chocolate Museum are abundant in this town.

  • Le Grand Stroll: Lined with beautiful flowers, take a seaside stroll along the famous stretch of beach in Biarritz. Starting at the headland lighthouse, stroll past a golf course, a 19th century Russian Orthodox Church, and the peaceful square of Place Ste-Eugenie and the Museum of the Sea. Finally, finish your walk at Fishermen's Port, which was built by the Emperor Napoleon, and the Rock of the Virgin statue which juts out into the sea.

Balancing conversation, reading, writing, grammar, and listening, the Adults Classic courses at BMA emphasize a pleasing and beneficial learning environment while remaining intensive in their nature. The school stresses an importance for students to immerse themselves in the language in order to remain motivated to continue improving, even after returning home. All of these classes are taught by experienced and qualified teachers and, as opposed to the less structured Standard classes, take place in the mornings.
