Intercultura Samara

Learn Spanish in Sámara, Costa Rica

The Area & School

Sámara is a small, funky town with a relaxed vibe, and a gorgeous beach. The area sits in a protected cove, so the water is calm, blue and friendly for both swimmers and surfers. Sámara is located on the Nicoya Peninsula, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, in the Guanacaste province. It is famous for its great weather and friendly locals.

The school in Samara enjoys one of the prettier locations you'll find among Spanish schools. Located right on the beach, the two story school is equipped with air conditioning in every classroom, gorgeous views, direct beach access through the garden gate, yoga and dance studio, and an expansive beachfront garden that students enjoy during breaks and after class.

Spanish Courses

Standard 20 Spanish

This course consists of 20 hours per week (4 hours per day Monday - Friday) of intensive immersion Spanish courses taught in small groups. Classes are limited to six students, but average four. Teachers use a communicative approach focused on student interaction, conversation, grammar and vocabulary.

Starts at $315 for one week

1:1 Private Spanish (10 lessons / week)

This course consists of 10 lessons per week of private 1:1 lessons (one student, one teacher). Each lesson is one hour in length and can be tailored to the exact learning goals of each student. Private tutoring lessons are a great way to progress quickly in a short amount of time, get intensive conversation practice, and work on specific topics that may not be covered at length in other courses. Classes are taught by native speakers with university degrees.

Starts at $260 for one week

Host Family

(Private room, half-board). Staying with a Costa Rican "Tico" homestay family in Samara is a great way to complete the immersion experience by gaining extra Spanish practice each day. All host families are screened and selected by the accommodation staff at the school. Students will be issued their own key to come and go as they please. Breakfast and dinner are provided by the families daily. Homes are located within walking distance of the school campus.

*Please note that the standard of living in Costa Rica is different for an average family. Houses may be more rustic and simple than you are used to, but families are all very friendly and welcoming and will provide a true Tico cultural experience.

Starts at $175 / week
