Spanish Courses

Summer Program Spanish

Aimed at non-native Spanish speakers between the ages of 10-18, this intensive summer program consists of 20 hours of language classes per week. Cultural activities are optional and can be experienced on students' own time. Alternatively, guided excursions can be purchased through the school. Lasting either 2, 3, or 4 weeks, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Spanish language culture by attending four 50 minute classes per day.

Summer Spanish Program + Activities

Aimed at non-native Spanish speakers between the ages of 10-18, this intensive summer program combines 20 hours of language classes per week with a variety of cultural excursions. Lasting either 2, 3, or 4 weeks, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Spanish language culture while at the same time exploring their surroundings. The program consists of four 50 minute classes per day with four excursions per week.

Host Family

(Private room, full board) La Colina School makes sure to select the best host families in order for students to have a positive experience interacting with Spanish culture. Located no longer than 30 minutes from the school, a homestay in Malaga is a great way to practice the language skills learned in class as well as allows students to gain the most from their experience by becoming fully immersed in everyday Spanish life.

No public holidays are observed at La Colina School during the Summer.

The city of Malaga is easy to travel to and from by plane and train:

  • If arriving at the Pablo Picasso Airport, students can expect to find daily national as well as international flights. The travel time by plane to Madrid is 1 hour and 15 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes to Barcelona.

  • If arriving by train the AVE (high-speed train) connects to many cities in the country. The travel time by train to Madrid and Seville is 2 hours and 1 hour to Cordoba.

Half-day Excursions

  • Marbella: this city is extremely diverse and known for its excellent weather and buzzing atmosphere.
  • Nerja: a charming town that houses some of the most ancient rock art images in its famous caves.
  • Benalmadena: situated in the center of the Costa del Sol, the beauty of this city's landscape is hard to beat.
  • Fuengirola: this city has an abundance of green spaces in addition to a well-established tourist infrastructure.
  • Torremolinos: find many options for leisure and fine dining in this tranquil city.

Full-day excursions-(taking place on Saturdays)

  • Students have the opportunity to travel to some of the greater-known areas of the region: Andalucia, Seville, Granada, Cordiba, Tarifa/Gibraltar, and Ronda.
  • An optional 3-day excursion to Madrid is available, costing 390 euros.
